Humanitarian causes are about putting the needs of others before our own, striving to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most. It’s about serving with intention, compassion, and dedication.
In a world where challenges seem insurmountable, organizations like the Lions Club are source of inspiration.
Recently, Ikeja Metro Lions Club, District 404B2 Nigeria installed a new President, Lion Johnson Adetola, at the helm of the Club. The ceremony, held on November 2 at the NECA House in Ikeja, Lagos, was a proof to the club’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service.
District Governor, Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, in her goodwill message, urged the new president to lead with vision, humility, and dedication to service. “Serve with intentionality. Listen to the needs of your community, respond with creativity, and lead with purpose,”. “Let your tenure be filled with acts of kindness that bring hope, projects that drive change, and a legacy of true service.”she stated.
The theme of service and collaboration was echoed by Lion Princess Adetope Tychus, International Director, Constitutional Area 8 (Africa). “For any club to grow, teamwork and commitment are crucial,” she emphasized. Stressing that when leaders work together with purpose, they can transform their communities through collective service and shared vision.
The event also highlighted the importance of partnerships in community development. Mr. Andrew Enofe, Founder and CEO of Golden Gates Investment, Ontario, Canada commended the Lions Club for its humanitarian projects and pledged his company’s support for the club’s N50 million fundraising drive. The funds will be used to build a community center that will empower young people and promote skill development. “The government cannot do it all,” he said.
Enofe added, “spaces like this serve as foundations for connection, education, and growth. Investing in properties that support schools, community centers, and training facilities is crucial for empowering individuals and building stronger communities.”
As the Ikeja Metro Lions Club embarks on this new service journey, it’s clear that their commitment to humanitarian service remains unwavering. With renewed calls for support from members and partners, the club is poised to remarkable impact in the community.
The installation ceremony served as a reminder that serving humanity is not just a noble endeavour but a necessary one. As Mother Teresa so eloquently put it, “We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive.”
