Lion Mary Onu Unveils Ambitions Service Agenda in Inaugural Speech as District Governor .

In a stirring acceptance speech, Lion Mary Onu, District Governor, 404A3 has vowed to lead the District with a renewed commitment to service and compassion. Taking office for the 2025-2026 Lions Year, the Governor outlined an ambitious agenda aimed at addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.
With a theme of “Passion for Service,” the Governor pledged to deepen the organization’s impact and expand its reach, aligning with UNICEF’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A key highlight of the Governor’s plan is a fundraising goal of ₦100 million to support a range of impactful projects, including solar power installations, eye health programs, cancer and sickle cell support, educational initiatives, and environmental awareness campaigns.
Onu emphasized the importance of partnerships and collaborations, announcing plans to work with organizations, clubs, and individuals who share the organization’s values of service, inclusion, and lasting transformation. She also expressed gratitude to early supporters and sponsors, urging others to join the mission as Humanitarian Donors or Project Sponsors.
With a call to action to “serve with purpose, give with compassion, and reignite the passion for service,” the Governor’s speech marked a new chapter in the organization’s commitment to making a difference in communities around the world.
