Cycling Kano 2025 Shines Bright

The ancient city of Kano hosted its inaugural Cycling Kano 2025 event, bringing together top cyclists from across Nigeria. Isa Momoh from Kaduna State won the gold medal in the male professional category, while Jacob Ishaku and Joel Berry secured silver and bronze medals, respectively. The competition was fierce, but the athletes’ determination and skill shone through.

In the junior categories, Kano athletes dominated the podium. Mubarak Auwal clinched the gold medal in the Under-15 boys category, defeating Mujahid Hudu and Ibrahim Sani, who finished second and third, respectively. Umar Tasiu Mohd won the gold medal in the Under-10 category, ahead of Yusif Baffa and Haruna Abdullah. The girls’ categories also produced outstanding performances, with Islam Yau Abubakar claiming the gold medal in the Under-15 girls event.

The event, themed “Health and Wellness,” aims to promote cycling as a competitive sport, encourage healthy living, and foster youth empowerment. Speaking at the event, Mr. Sani Musa Danja, Senior Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Sports and Youth Development, attributed the success of the competition to the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf. He thanked corporate sponsors, including Union Bank, NNPC, Peak Yoghurt, and Flour Mills of Nigeria, for their invaluable contributions.

The 2025 edition of Cycling Kano drew top dignitaries, including the Emir of Kano’s representative, Alhaji Sanusi Bello, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abbas Danlami Abdullahi. The event is a state-backed initiative of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration in partnership with BrandEscort Communications, marking a significant milestone in promoting sports development in Kano State.
