Nestlé Waters, in collaboration with the Organised Private Sector in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (OPS-WASH), has unveiled the Nestlé Water Quality Advocacy campaign. This initiative aims to raise national awareness on the importance of quality water across Nigeria.
The campaign launch event in Abuja brought together key stakeholders to emphasize the critical need to protect the nation’s water sources to safeguard public health and enhance community well-being. Mr. Olatunji Olutayo, Business Executive Officer, Nestlé Waters and Premium Beverages, highlighted Nestlé’s commitment to quality and water stewardship.
“Water stewardship is a priority for Nestlé Waters . By 2025, we aim for all our sites to be certified under the Alliance for Water Stewardship Standard,” he said. “Our central message is clear: water safety must become a priority in every home, business, and public institution.”
Dr. Nicholas Igwe, National Coordinator, OPS-WASH, emphasized the importance of empowering people with knowledge to safeguard their health by protecting water sources. “Water is life, yet millions of Nigerians are still unaware of the quality of the water they consume daily,” he stated.
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources & Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, represented by Mrs. Elizabeth Ugoh, commended Nestlé Waters and OPS-WASH for the initiative, aligning with the national drive to ensure access to clean and safe water for all Nigerians.
The campaign aims to promote universal access to safe water, ensure transparent monitoring and accountability, and encourage multi-stakeholder collaboration. Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria PLC, described the campaign as a national movement for water safety.
The Nestlé Water Quality Advocacy campaign reinforces Nestlé Nigeria’s commitment to sustainability and community well-being, aligning with OPS-WASH’s mission to mobilize the private sector in achieving national and global water, sanitation, and hygiene goals.
