Giving back to the society should be paramount to every living souls. Just as Barbara Bush, clearly stated that giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our minds to the unexplained worlds, occupied by the needs of others.

In view of this act, Clubs in region 8, District 404B2 Nigeria , under the leadership of Lion Katherine Obalim , recently hosted a highly impactful visitation and interactive session with the District Governor, Lion (Prof. ) Dayo Fagbohun to assess the leadership of the service year within the clubs in the region.

The event , which was held recently at the Protea Hotel Marriot Lagos had in attendance, Lion (Prof ) Dayo Emmanuel Fagbohun, District Governor 404B2 Nigeria; Lion Funmilayo Fagbohun, District Governor’s spouse; Lion (Princess) Adetope Tychus, Past Council Chairperson and International Director Endorsed; Lion (Aare) Lekan Owolabi, Immediate Past District Governor, 404B2 Nigeria amongst others.

The event started with commissioning of various communities projects , which was executed by clubs in the region to mark the visitation of the District Governor to region 8.

The session was aimed to foster closer ties between the District Governor , clubs and members within the region, as the interactive session was an opportunity for the District Governor to gain insights into the challenges and aspirations of the clubs and to work together in finding solutions.

According to the District Governor, the importance of engaging and connecting dearly with clubs that have been less responsive is a pivotal to sustainability and growth of such clubs.

“I want to emphasize the need for encouragement and mentorship, especially from esteemed figure like Lion Princess Adetope Tychus , who is gracing the region interactive session, the incoming first black female International Director amongst other leaders of our association”. Fagbohun stated.

In her speech, Lion Katherine Obalim, Region 8 Chairperson stressed the significance of openness and accountability within clubs. She emphasized the importance of paying dues and addressing any lapses promptly to avoid suspension, encouraging clubs to be proactive in supporting each other to grow.

During the session, club presidents, Lion Adekemi Badmos Charter President of Lagos Marvel Lions Club, and Lion Chief Thomas Adu, President of Lagos Paddles Lions Club and representatives of clubs provided detailed reports on their clubs’ activities, which were acknowledged by the District Governor.

Earlier Lion (Princess ) Adetope Tychus commended Lion Katherine Obalim for her dedication and effort, urging club presidents not to give up despite challenges. She emphasized the importance of perseverance and support, praising the District Governor for his flexibility and patience in addressing issues.

Tychus left the interactive session with inspiring message: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going, because there is light at the end of the tunnel.” She said.

The session concluded with a sense of renewed commitment and unity among the Lions Clubs in District 404B2 Nigeria, Region 8, as they strive to make a positive impact in their communities.
