As part of giving back to the society; a former Managing Director of Cosmic Insurance Brokers, Dr. Teslim Sanusi, has taken his 80th birthday celebration this year,to the people of the grass-root with the offering of free medical services to 8,000 beneficiary.

eye screening and treatment, free cataract surgery and tutorials on prevention and management of diabetes, among others. The exercise would be held at five locations.
His words: In all, we hope to do 8000 Free Eye Screening Exercise; 800 Free Cataract Surgeries and donation of eye glasses in the following locations:
Ilupeju Lions Diabetes Centre at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital
LCIF/MD 404 Eye Centre at State Hospital, Ota, Ogun State Insurance Brokers House Erin Ile Progressive Union (EPU) Shopping and Warehouse Complex, Erin Ile, Kwara State Eye, Diabetes and Dialysis Complex Erin-Ile, Kwara State.
He said “I decided to show love to my country people by bringing basic medical service to their door step and enlightening then of the need to be health conscious at all time.” It sad to see the indigent trying to survive yet faced with some health challenges. It is necessary to put smile on the faces of this people.
Sanusi added that government and corporate bodies who are supposed to champion the crusade for giving are erring and this is part of the root cause of the lack of love and pervasive spread of criminality, poverty and destitution in the country like ours that is so hugely blessed. In the event of not being able to afford the basis things of life, many turn to other inordinate ways to survive. It would continue to remain my submission that for as long as there is no efforts to create comfort for the poor, the security of the few in our society would never be guaranteed.
“Instead of spending huge expenditures on financing security, which to me is a reactive measure, government needs to do more in deliberately giving and providing social welfare and championing the course of the needy. The same should be the lot of the private sectors, in order to guarantee their sustainability and business survival.
Moreso, he said taking on board with a rethinking on the need for the needy is the need for employers to adhere to the law mandating them to allow for at least 1% recruitment quota for the physically disadvantaged, bearing in mind that an orderly and all-inclusive society could only be achieved when every being has a strong sense of contentment and belonging, irrespective of what providence has foisted on them.
Sanusi emphasized the words of legendary Mother Theresa, “the world would be a clean place if everyone sweeps his doorsteps”, In doing this, I am most delighted that the planning committee has lined up the following programmes, focusing on Free Eye Care; Screening and Treatment cum surgeries as well as treatments and provision of blood testing equipments to ensure this indigent Nigerians get the opportunity to access qualitative healthcare.
Five years ago, Dr. Sanusi also held a similar free medical exercise at the venue when he turned 70. He spearheaded the construction of the eye centre, in collaboration with the Ogun State government, while he was Lions Club District Governor 404B Nigeria between 2006 and 2007.
