Ondo State to Host the World’s Biggest Entrepreneurship Festival
Today, every state in Nigeria is thriving to ensure that its indigenous people get good services in terms of employment and many other amenities to enable them live a better life; especially as the country is presently facing hard times. Ondo State, popularly known as Nigeria’s chief cocoa-producing state amongst other crops, isn’t left out, as the state plans to host the world’s biggest entrepreneurship festival, come 22nd-24th November, 2024 with the theme- “Beyond Boundaries: Poverty Eradication through Entrepreneurship”. This festival is expected to open doors of business opportunities, employment, networking and it promises to be a value-added development to the country.
Recently at a Media Conference held in Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Mr. Wanle Akinboboye, Chairman of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF) Board, stated in his welcome address that the gathering was not only to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship but also to honour the remarkable contributions of the dedicated GEF Board members and planning committee, whose tireless efforts and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in bringing this event to fruition. “I am deeply grateful for the collaborative spirit and innovative ideas that each member has brought to the table. Together, we have worked diligently to ensure that this festival is not just an event, but a transformative experience for all participants.”

He stated.
“Our mandate has always been clear: to execute the biggest entrepreneurship event in the world and create a platform that fosters networking, learning, and growth for entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey. This year, we are excited to present a diverse array of activities, including workshops, panel discussions, and keynote speeches from industry leaders. Each session has been thoughtfully curated to provide valuable insights and practical tools that will empower entrepreneurs to navigate the ever-evolving business landscape. We are also thrilled to showcase the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem of Nigeria, particularly the rich potential of Ondo State, which serves as our gracious host”. Akinboboye state.

Being happy and fulfilled with the outcome of the gathering, especially as preparations towards the forthcoming event is at the topmost, Akinboboye extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria and the people of Ondo State for readiness to host the prestigious event. “Your hospitality and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship are truly commendable. A special acknowledgment goes to the Executive Governor of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa whose support and vision have been pivotal in making this festival a reality. Your commitment to fostering a conducive environment for business growth is inspiring, and we are grateful for your leadership.” He asserted.
The Chairman,GEF, Board, thanked all their partners, prospective partners and everyone who believes in the daring project, which is about to make history and, one that will never be forgotten. “Together, we can harness the power of entrepreneurship to drive innovation, create jobs, and uplift our communities. Thank you for being here, and let us make the Global Entrepreneurship Festival 2024 an unforgettable experience”. Akinboboye submitted.

Also speaking at the media conference is Shina Peller who described the gathering as a remarkable initiative that has the potential to transform the world, the nation and empower the youth. Peller said that the festival is not just an event; it is a celebration of innovation, creativity, and the indomitable spirit of entrepreneurship that resides within each and every Nigerian.
In his speech, “first and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerians for your resilience and determination in the face of challenges. Our nation is rich in talent, and it is our collective responsibility to harness this potential for the greater good. The Global Entrepreneurship Festival is a testament to the belief that we can create a brighter future through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the pursuit of excellence.”
“This festival brings together entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and innovators from around the world, providing a unique platform for networking, learning, and inspiration. It is an opportunity for our youth to engage with industry experts, gain insights into the latest trends, and discover the tools necessary to turn their ideas into successful ventures.” Peller emphasised.
As the world is evolving at an unprecedented pace, the skills and knowledge that will be gained at the Global Entrepreneurship Festival is expected to be invaluable in navigating the complexities of today’s economy. Peller, therefore encouraged the young people to embrace this initiative wholeheartedly. Stressing that this festival is an opportunity for everyone, especially the young Nigerians to learn from the best, to be inspired by success stories of those who have traversed these waters, and also connect with like-minded individuals from all over the world who share their passion for entrepreneurship.
While congratulating Nigerians and Nigeria for the opportunity to host the world’s biggest entrepreneurship event in the country, he noted that such is a blessing, which will open up many economic doors and he urged other government parastatals and private sector to join in this historic project.
He ended his speech by congratulating Ondo State, saying “this state has set a record for others to follow. I want to reiterate my congratulations to all Nigerians and express my unwavering belief in the potential of our youth. Let us come together to support and participate in initiatives like the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, let us not only support but let us also tell our stories so that everyone who cares to know follow our journey; every toil, every triumph; for they are the catalysts for economic progress, job creation and innovation.”
“Together, we can build a prosperous future for Nigeria—one that is driven by the creativity and ambition of our young entrepreneurs. I am proud to be part of this legacy, thank you, and I look forward to seeing you all at the festival” he said.
Earlier, commissioner for information, Ondo State, Wale Akinlosotu, who represented the Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, delivered the governor’s goodwill note, which he said, “this year’s festival’s theme, ‘Beyond Boundaries: Poverty Eradication Through Entrepreneurship’ resonates deeply with our mission in Ondo State. It emphasises our collective belief that entrepreneurship can be a powerful tool in addressing poverty in every corner of the globe. Our dear state is big on entrepreneurship as is evident in the fact that we have the first entrepreneurship agency in Nigeria.”
