Lions Club urges the government to create an enabling environment for reading culture
In an effort to promote literacy and education, Lagos Apex Lions Club has donated textbooks to five school libraries in celebration of literacy month. The schools are in Lagos State. Speaking at the event, the president of the club, Lion Modupe Salawudeen, said that the initiative was aimed at empowering students, especially those from low-income families, by providing them with affordable textbooks and supporting their educational journey.
She stated that by promoting school competitions and encouraging teachers, Apex Lions Club is making reading attractive and encouraging love for learning among the pupils. Salawudeen said that the club is leaving no stone unturned in the efforts to ensure that all children have access to textbooks, regardless of their economic background.
She added that by equipping libraries with essential reading materials and subsidizing the cost of textbooks for minors, Lions Club are paving the way for a brighter future for the pupils.
