Lekki Admiralty Lions Club Leads Local Hunger Relief Efforts
In a commendable display of compassion and community service, the Lekki Admiralty Lions Club, District 404A3 Nigeria, has undertaken its annual Hunger Relief Activity , leaving an indelible mark on the Igbo-Efon Community.
Lion Florence Ogu, the dedicated Club Service Chairperson, shared insights into the inspiration behind this impactful initiative.
For Lekki Admiralty Lions Club, the Hunger Relief Activity is more than just a project; it’s a commitment to making an immediate and substantial impact on the community.
She explains, “the Hunger Relief Activity is one of the flagship programs of Lions International and has been a constant yearly core project of the Lekki Admiralty Lions Club.”The activity focus on addressing the pressing issue of hunger underscores the club’s dedication to uplifting the community”. She said.
Lion Ogu is questioned on the Lions Club heartfelt giving despite economic challenges. She states that in a time when economic hardships prevail, Lions International’s motto, “We Serve” (Where there is a need, there is a Lion) resonates deeply with the Lekki Admiralty Lions Club.”
The Club Service Chairperson, emphasizes the collective willingness of Lions Club members, their families, and friends to support the activity demonstrating a genuine heart for giving. Despite the challenging economic climate, the Lions International remains steadfast in her mission to bring smiles to families in need.
The recent hunger relief activity held at the Baale’s palace in Igbo-Efon, stands as a testament to the club’s community commitment in supporting the government to alleviate suffering.
Lion Ogu informed that food bags were distributed to 156 families, which makes it approximately 624 that were fed.
This practical action directly addresses the immediate needs of the community, providing sustenance during trying times. Beyond their commendable hunger relief efforts, the Lekki Admiralty Lions Club offers advisory and valuable insights for government action on poverty alleviation.
In furtherance, Lion Ogu advocates for support to farmers, emphasizing the need for affordable sources of grains and seeds, saying that financial assistance like loans accessibility to farmers will go along way in promoting food availability at reasonable costs and contributing to poverty alleviation.
The Lekki Admiralty Lions Club holistic approach and dedication to community service goes beyond hunger relief.
She highlights various laudable projects undertaken during the Lions year 2023 to 2024. These include Youth Empowerment, Back to School initiatives, Sight projects, Environmental initiatives, and Childhood Cancer Awareness.
